Couple Counselling
Couples typically have difficulties because;
- Emotional intimacy in a couple is intrinsically difficult to manage
- One partner might have had an affair
- One or both might have had childhood trauma with intimacy, e.g. neglect
- They might have never been a good enough fit
- They might have trauma with child-rearing, e.g. the illness of a child
- One or both might have narcissistic traits which oppose relating
Couple counselling provides a safe space in which difficulties can be aired and new ways of relating can be experimented with. It might be the case that this space is needed to air these difficult issues and this happily resolves things. Or it might be that one or both partners need a space to help end a relationship which has essentially already ended. The sessions usually last for 60 minutes and there is usually one session a week and this usually lasts for as many sessions as the couple needs. The sessions cost £75.
